On Leadership

On Leadership from John Wooden, former coach of the record-setting UCLA basketball team:
*A leader’s most powerful ally is his or her own example.

*The most essential thing for a leader to have is the respect of those under his or her supervision. It starts with giving them respect.

*Listen to those under your supervision. Really listen. Don’t act as though you’re listening and let it go in one ear and out the other. Faking it is worse than not doing it at all. A good motto is “Others, too, have brains.”

Dentists, you are the leaders of your practices. Do these Wooden thoughts hit home with you?
