DENTAL TRIVIA

15th century Chinese used bamboo-handled toothbrushes with bristles made of
stiff neck hairs of Siberian boars. Nylon-bristled toothbrushes were not introduced until 1937.

The Revolutionary War patriot, Paul Revere, was renowned as a silversmith. He was also a fine dentist.

DMD stands for Dentariae Medicinal Doctorae and was first awarded by Harvard
School of Dental Medicine. DDS stands for Doctor of Dental Surgery. Academic
requirements for the two degrees are identical, set by the American Dental
Association.
