A 2011-12 Business Resources survey by the American Dental
Association reported 35% of ADA members do NOT have a website for their
practice.
Yet marketing research reports that approximately 80% of
Americans use the internet when searching for a new dentist, and 44% of
patients look online for information and reviews about their current healthcare
providers.
Electronic Health Records (EHR) save about $4.50 per
patient, the cost of a complete paper chart for each new patient. Multiply $4.50 times the number of new
patients you see in a year to calculate an approximate annual savings when you
switch to EHR. Add to this the cost of
staff time for pulling, updating, and filing paper charts plus the cost of
paper Recare forms and other paperwork to understand the potential savings with
the use of EHRs.
In 2012-13, slightly more than 47% of first year dental
students were female.
In 2012-13, 87.8% of private practices employed
receptionists/business desk staff. 84.8%
of private practices employed chairside assistants and 24.9% of those were
expanded duty dental assistants. 70.9%
of private practices employed hygienists.
