TWO ONLINE MARKETING
STRATEGIES
Recent studies in the hospitality industry have proven that
customer reviews online have significant impact on demand for a product or
service and its price. When online ratings for a business rose by even one
star, demand increased by 25% while prices rose by 9%. Transfer that phenomenon
into the dental profession. The potential for your practice is amazing. Remember
the old adage, “It never hurts to ask.” Use that concept to form the habit of
asking patients who compliment any aspect of your practice to post their
comments online. Both doctor and staff members can ask patients to post their
positive comments as well as to refer patients. Simple phrasing such as, “Thank
you for that wonderful compliment, Mr. Simpson. If you’d like to share your
opinion with others, please post your comments on our website or on your social
media page. Other patients or potential new patients like to read about
experiences in our office. Or, as a patient checks out, “Mrs. Jones, we are seeing new patients. If you have
family or friends as nice as you, please refer them to our office.”
Recent articles about Facebook
Live have caught my attention as I think about practice marketing
opportunities. Videos are now proven winners in the world of marketing, and Facebook Live offers the opportunity to
record live videos such as patient testimonials, successful cosmetic dentistry
cases, brief explanations of new treatment modalities, office events, etc., to
be broadcast on your practice Facebook page. Facebook Live is still new in the world of social media and, therefore,
has some restrictions. Thirty minutes is the time limit for broadcasting a
video. Additionally, only verified Facebook
business pages allow Facebook Live
video broadcasting. If interested, check facebook.com to determine the
verification process for your office Facebook page.
Either or both of these online marketing methods might be a
good fit for your practice. Discuss the possibilities with your online
marketing guru whether that is a skilled staff member or an outsourced expert. Explore
possibilities; then go for it!!
